TL;DR: Is ettitude or Cozy Earth better?
On feel, care and trial length, they're close: both are sateen bamboo sheet sets with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and two pillowcases, and both give you about 100 nights to decide. The real difference is the fiber. Cozy Earth's Bamboo Sheet Set is 100% bamboo viscose. ettitude's Signature Sateen sheets are made from bamboo lyocell, not bamboo viscose (rayon): CleanBamboo® lyocell, produced using a patented process in a closed-loop system that recovers 98% of the water and organic solvent for reuse.
Choose ettitude if you care how your sheets are made and want published proof. That means third-party lab results against a leading bamboo viscose sheet, Certified B Corp status, more than $600,000 given through 1% for the Planet, and a certificate you can look up: STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, SH025 285270 TESTEX. Product Class I, its most stringent class: independently tested against a list of over 1,000 harmful substances. Choose Cozy Earth if a lower price or a deeper fitted pocket matters most. ettitude also makes a second line, Luxe, in Peru.
ettitude vs Cozy Earth: the scorecard
Is Cozy Earth bamboo viscose or lyocell?
Viscose. Cozy Earth's product page says its sheets are "crafted from 100% bamboo viscose," and its FAQ says "100% viscose from bamboo."
ettitude's Signature Sateen sheets are made from bamboo lyocell, not bamboo viscose (rayon). US fiber labels read "lyocell made from bamboo."
How is each fiber made?
Bamboo viscose and bamboo lyocell can start from the same plant. What separates them is the chemistry used to turn bamboo pulp into fiber.
Lyocell is spun using NMMO, an organic solvent, instead of the carbon disulfide used to make viscose. In our closed-loop process, 98% of the water and organic solvent is recovered, separated back into clean water and solvent, and reused, up to 200 times.
Cozy Earth's FAQ says it has "gone to great lengths to verify that our viscose from bamboo fabric and fiber is responsibly sourced," and that its process "recycles water and does not release waste into the environment." It doesn't say how much water is recovered or name the process.
Under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act, which the FTC enforces, fabric made from bamboo through a chemical process has to be labeled by its real fiber, such as "rayon made from bamboo" or "lyocell made from bamboo." For the full breakdown, including how tree-based lyocell compares, read Bamboo Viscose vs Bamboo Lyocell: Key Differences Explained.
Which sheets are better for hot sleepers?
Both brands say their sheets sleep cool. Cozy Earth describes its sheets as "naturally temperature-regulating and cooling," "breathable" and "moisture-wicking." Its product page doesn't cite a test for those claims.
ettitude's Signature Sateen is cool to the touch, temperature regulating and breathable by design. Here's the test behind it:
In third-party lab testing on unwashed fabric (Intertek, 2022), ettitude Signature Sateen was cooler to the touch, wicked moisture faster and resisted pilling better than a leading bamboo viscose sateen sheet and a leading eucalyptus lyocell sateen sheet: 13% and 7% higher Q-max cool-touch scores, 43% and 47% faster wicking over 30 minutes (AATCC 197), and a pilling grade of 4.5 vs 4.0 for both (ASTM D3512, where 5 means no pilling). Cozy Earth's sheets were not part of that test.
Which has stronger certifications?
Product safety: STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®
Both sheet sets carry STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, an independent certification that tests textiles for harmful substances. The difference is how much each brand tells you.
ettitude's sheets carry STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, SH025 285270 TESTEX. Product Class I, its most stringent class: independently tested against a list of over 1,000 harmful substances (www.oeko-tex.com/standard100). Because we publish the certificate number, you can look it up yourself.
Cozy Earth's product page lists "OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100" and its FAQ says "every component has been tested." Neither page gives a certificate number or a product class.
Company certifications and giving
ettitude is a certified B Corp since 2022. Recertified in Aug 2024 with a score of 123.3, up from 102 at first certification. Next recertification 2027.
ettitude is also a member of 1% for the Planet: we give 1% of annual revenue to vetted environmental organizations, and our 2025 giving was independently verified. Since joining 1% for the Planet, ettitude has given more than $600,000 to vetted environmental organizations (as of October 2026).
Cozy Earth's product page and FAQ don't list a company-level certification or a giving commitment.
Who's behind the sheets
ettitude is Asian-founded and women-led: founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2014 by Phoebe Yu, and led today with Co-founder Kat Dey, Co-Founder & President. ettitude is woman-owned. CleanBamboo® has been made and sold at commercial scale since 2014.
Want to go a step further? ettitude Luxe, made in Peru
Alongside Signature Sateen, ettitude makes a second line, Luxe. The details:
- Made in Peru.
- Made from 90% CleanBamboo® lyocell and 10% bamboo charcoal.
- Odor: tested against acetic acid odor.
- Mold: In third-party lab testing on unwashed fabric (Intertek, 2022, FTTS-FA-006), no growth of Aspergillus niger, a common mold, was seen on ettitude sateen fabric after 14 days.
- Breathable by design.
A Luxe queen set includes a fitted sheet and a flat sheet, and pillowcases are sold separately. The same sleep trial applies.
Claims you'll see on bamboo sheets, and the ones we don't make
Bamboo bedding is full of big words. Here's how to read a few of them, and where we draw the line. This isn't a knock on anyone's sheets. It's the standard we hold our own copy to: if we can't name the test, we don't make the claim.
- "Hypoallergenic." Cozy Earth's product page uses it without citing a test. We don't use the word. What we can show is this: Certified to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, independently tested for allergenic dyes and harmful substances.
- "Antibacterial" and "antimicrobial." Cozy Earth's FAQ says its sheets are "resistant to dust mites and bacteria," without citing a test. We don't use either word for our sheets. When we share a lab result, we name the lab, the year, the method and the fabric tested, and we're clear that it's a result for the fabric, not a health claim.
- "Softer with every wash." Cozy Earth says its sheets "only get softer with every wash." We don't promise that, because we haven't measured it.
- Pilling. We give you a number instead of a promise: a pilling grade of 4.5 out of 5 in the Intertek test above.
- Process. "Recycles water" is a start. We publish the figure: 98% of the water and organic solvent recovered and reused.
Where does Cozy Earth come out ahead?
On price and fit. A Cozy Earth queen set is $308 against $359 for ettitude, and its fitted sheets stretch to fit mattresses up to 20" deep, against 17" for ours. If either matters most to you, those are real advantages.
How we researched this
We read Cozy Earth's Bamboo Sheet Set product page, FAQ and returns policy on Oct 13, 2026, and quote them directly. Cozy Earth's thread count comes from Mattress Clarity's review. Every ettitude claim names its test, lab or certificate. Prices and policies change, so check both sites before you buy.
