Baby

FAQs

Are bamboo crib sheets safe for babies?

Bamboo crib sheets are safe for babies and may offer even more benefits compared to other fabrics. Bamboo is a naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic fabric that can prevent allergies while feeling smooth on the skin. Bamboo crib bedding is also moisture-wicking, preventing moisture buildup that can lead to allergens. Ultimately, with fewer bacteria and allergies like dust, bamboo crib sheets are a safe alternative to other materials like silk and synthetic fabric.

Are bamboo crib sheets good for babies’ skin?

A bamboo crib sheet is a perfect addition to any nursery. Bamboo is a breathable material, making it an excellent choice for babies who tend to overheat or those who live in warm climates. The breathability of bamboo crib sheets is also ideal for babies with sensitive skin as they can help keep rashes clean and dry and prevent skin irritation. Because bamboo is soft to the touch, it won’t aggravate your little one’s delicate and sensitive skin while they sleep.

Looking for more bamboo baby products? Check out ettitude’s baby collection, offering more buttery-soft bamboo products, such as:

Are bamboo crib sheets breathable?

Our bamboo crib sheets are breathable and cooling. The breathable weave allows air to pass through the sheets easily and lets your baby’s natural body heat escape to prevent them from becoming too warm at night. A bamboo crib sheet gives your young one a cooling layer on top of their crib mattress for the comfiest naps imaginable.

How often should you wash bamboo crib sheets?

Bamboo crib sheets should be washed as often as other crib sheets. It’s recommended to wash your crib sheet at least every two weeks. You may need to wash your sheets more, depending on how often they get dirtied. Bamboo crib sheets are durable enough for the washing machine and get softer with every wash.

When washing your bamboo crib bedding, use cold water and the gentle or delicate cycle to prevent shrinking. You can dry your sheets on a line or in the dryer on low heat, depending on your preference. When drying your fitted sheets, be careful not to use a dryer ball to prevent pilling. If possible, it’s best to wash and dry your bamboo crib sheet by itself or with like fabrics to prevent friction and pilling.

Remember, it’s always best to have at least four crib sheets so your baby’s crib always has a non-toxic, hypoallergenic sheet ready for their next dreamy sleep.

Bamboo Bedding

FAQs

Is bamboo good for bedding?

Bamboo is the best bedding material for optimal sleep. Bamboo bedding is softer than silk and even more durable and breathable. While silk bedding can make you sweat at night, bamboo is a cooling fabric. It allows your body heat to escape through the bamboo bedding sheets to prevent you from overheating and sweating at night. Additionally, bamboo gets even softer over time and with each wash. For even more antimicrobial benefits, opt for ettitude's Sateen+ bamboo bed sheets—they’re infused with bamboo charcoal powder to ensure your bedding stays fresh for longer.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of bamboo bedding?

While bamboo bedding is affordable and soft it’s still very durable (ettitude’s bamboo sheets are 51% more durable and long-lasting compared to competitor sheets!)

Bamboo is great for hot sleepers because it wicks away moisture to remove sweat while you sleep. It's also incredibly breathable and provides ventilation to keep you from getting too hot at night. While bamboo is cooling, it's also temperature-regulating. Its thermoregulating properties can help you stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer, making bamboo sheets ideal for every season.

Bamboo is also ideal for sensitive skin. Bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic and removes sweat from the skin at night to prevent acne and allergic reactions.

The only disadvantage of bamboo bedding is that you may experience shrinkage if you don't follow the care instructions on the label. Some bamboo fabrics can shrink and pill in the wash. However, ettitude's bamboo bedding is machine-washable. It’s designed to be washed in cold water on the delicate cycle and dried in the dryer on low heat. So, you won't have to worry about dry cleaning.

How long does bamboo bedding last?

Bamboo bedding can last up to 15 years or more. Bamboo bed sheets are incredibly durable, so they can put up with a lot of use and tossing and turning. Of course, how long your bamboo bedding lasts depends on how well you take care of it. To extend the lifespan of your bamboo sheets, always follow the care instructions on the label and never wash them in hot water or use high heat in the dryer (unless crispy sheets are your thing).

Does bamboo bedding make you sweat?

Unlike other fabrics like silk, bamboo bedding does not make you sweat. Because bamboo sheets are breathable and have a cooling effect, they actually prevent sweating at night. Instead of your sheets trapping your body heat, bamboo sheets let your natural body heat escape for ultimate comfort. If you sweat at night, bamboo sheets will also absorb the sweat and wick it away from your skin to keep you comfy and cool all night long.

FAQs

Are bamboo towels good?

Bamboo towels are soft and plush while also extremely durable and absorbent. With bamboo waffle towels, there’s no need to aggressively rub your skin until it’s dry. Its unique honeycomb design quickly draws moisture from the skin to help avoid unnecessary skin irritation. Naturally hypoallergenic and gentle, bamboo towels are a great alternative for individuals with skin allergies and sensitive skin.

You can even use bamboo towels to dry your hair without causing damage. Bamboo is a soft material, ideal for curly or frizz-prone hair. Check out our selection of bath towels, waffle bathrobes and waffle hair towels to pamper yourself as you deserve. Or turn your entire bathroom into a private, sustainable oasis with our waffle towel set.

Are bamboo towels eco-friendly?

Bamboo towels are made from regenerative and sustainable bamboo grown without pesticides or harmful chemicals. Bamboo is an incredibly sustainable crop that’s fast-growing and self-regenerates, requiring no replanting. When compared to cotton (which requires mass amounts of freshwater and labor) bamboo is one of the most eco-friendly options for bath towels.

Bamboo towels Vs. cotton towels

Bamboo and cotton are often compared because they’re both soft materials. However, bamboo towels are more absorbent than cotton, making them better for bath towels. Bamboo towels are also gentle, allowing you to dry off quickly without irritating your skin. Bamboo bath towels are also antibacterial, which prevents moisture and mildew, so they don’t need to be washed as often as cotton towels. Bamboo towels are softer and more luxurious than cotton while remaining durable and resisting shrinkage.

Bamboo bathrobes are made from the same material as our bamboo bath towels. Dry off quickly and stay cozy as you get ready for the day or do your self-care routine in a waffle bathrobe. Both bamboo bath towels and bathrobes are allergy and sensitive-skin friendly, making them an ideal choice for those with easily irritated skin or those allergic to synthetic fabrics.

What are ettitude’s bamboo standards?

ettitude’s bamboo bath towels and bamboo bathrobes are made from 100% responsibly-sourced bamboo (and so are our bedding and loungewear)! Bamboo doesn’t require pesticides, making it more sustainable than cotton. Our products are also OEKO-TEX certified to ensure our materials are safe for you to use. We’re dedicated to creating healthy, environmentally-friendly and non-toxic products. That’s why we rely on the natural benefits of bamboo.

Duvet covers are meant to be washed more frequently than duvets themselves, so our bamboo duvet covers are machine-washable and super easy to care for. Additionally, our bamboo duvet covers are 51% more durable than other fabrics to prevent pilling and tearing.

Want even better sleep? Relieve tension and help yourself relax with a bamboo eye pillow filled with calming lavender.

Fitted Sheets

Bamboo fitted sheets: frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of using bamboo sheets?

Bamboo sheets come with many benefits, including:

  • Breathability: Bamboo fitted sheets are incredibly lightweight and breathable, allowing your body heat to escape from the sheets rather than becoming trapped. This means they’re ultra-cooling and keep you from getting hot and bothered at night.
  • Moisture wicking: If you're a hot sleeper, breathable bamboo sheets are a great solution. While some sheets absorb your sweat, bamboo sheets keep you dry by wicking away moisture and allowing it to evaporate quickly.
  • Durability: Bamboo fitted sheets are durable because the fabric has naturally long fibers, meaning they are long-lasting and won’t break down easily with proper care.
  • Hypoallergenic: Bamboo sheets are naturally hypoallergenic, so they’re resistant to dust, mold, and mildew.

How do you wash bamboo fitted bed sheets?

ettitude bamboo fitted sheets should be machine washed cold on the gentle cycle—by themselves or with similar fabrics. Our bamboo sheets can also be dried on low heat or air dried. When washing your ettitude bamboo fitted sheets, avoid bleach, fabric softener, and dryer balls.

Are bamboo sheets better than cotton bed sheets?

Bamboo and cotton bed sheets are made from natural fibers and are considered breathable fabrics. However, a few differences make bamboo sheets stand out as the clear winner. Bamboo bed sheets are softer, more durable, and moisture-wicking. While cotton is breathable, it tends to absorb sweat rather than allowing it to evaporate properly. Sleeping in a pool of sweat? No, thank you.

Where can I purchase affordable bamboo sheets?

You can find affordable bamboo sheet sets at ettitude, where we specialize in CleanBamboo™ fabric, made from 100% sustainable bamboo. Our sheets are hypoallergenic and free from harmful chemicals, making them ideal for sensitive skin. ettitude bamboo bedding and duvet covers also use 98% less water and 38% fewer carbon emissions than cotton sheets.

What is the thread count of bamboo fitted sheets by ettitude?

ettitude’s bamboo bed sheets have a thread count of 300, which is equivalent to 1,000 thread count of cotton sheets. However, thread count alone doesn’t determine how soft and comfortable the sheets are. Bamboo lyocell is softer and more breathable than cotton and feels just as lush as 1,000 thread count sheets.

Pillowcases & Pillow Protectors

FAQs

Are silk pillowcases or bamboo pillowcases better?

Silk and bamboo are two luxurious options for pillowcases, bathrobes and comforters that help you sleep better and more comfortably. Which is better? Well, while silk is known for being soft, bamboo can be just as silky-smooth. Ultimately, bamboo is more durable than silk and less likely to rip or tear. Bamboo gets softer over time and offers hypoallergenic and antibacterial properties that silk does not. Plus, it’s vegan, so you can rest easier knowing you chose the sustainable option (go you!)

While silk is one of the most recognized materials, there’s such a thing as too silky. Silk is incredibly smooth and can be quite slippery at night. Because it has a tighter weave, it can also get hot, so it’s not an ideal material for hot sleepers. On the other hand, bamboo is more comfortable. With a vegan silk bamboo pillowcase, your head won’t slip off your pillow and the breathable weave will keep you cool all night.

Bamboo pillowcases are also much easier to care for than silk pillowcases. Instead of having to get them dry cleaned or washing them with a specially formulated detergent, all you have to do is throw them into your washing machine in cold water and dry them on low heat. Compared to silk pillowcases, bamboo is cooler, softer, easier to maintain and more durable. It’s also an ideal choice for you allergy sufferers out there because it’s naturally hypoallergenic.

Are bamboo pillowcases good for your hair?

Bamboo is a super soft material that feels smooth like silk but doesn’t trap heat. With a soft texture, your hair won’t get frizzy or tangled at night. Instead, bamboo pillowcases and pillow protectors can keep your hair healthy and prevent breakage. Our vegan silk bamboo pillowcases are gentle on all hair types, from curly hair to straight. Plus, bamboo naturally wicks away moisture that can cause frizz, tangles and breakage.

Are bamboo pillowcases worth it?

Yes! Bamboo pillowcases offer you the most bang for your buck, especially when compared to other high-end luxury materials like silk. Not to mention, bamboo is a much more sustainable option. It’s responsibly made and doesn’t harm any little silkworms, unlike traditional silk.

Looking for more than just a bamboo pillowcase? Complete your bed with our bedding bundles and duvet covers.

How often should you wash your bamboo pillowcase?

You should wash your bamboo pillowcase every time you wash your sheets (which should be about every two weeks or so). Depending on your skin type, you might want to wash your bedding more to prevent oils from building up on your pillowcase. Washing your bamboo pillowcase is easy; all you have to do is machine wash with cold water on the gentle setting and tumble dry on low heat. Easy as.

Protectors

FAQs

Is a bamboo mattress protector worth it?

Bamboo mattress protectors offer long-lasting protection against dust mites that can result in skin irritation, especially for those with sensitive skin. Bamboo mattress pads are lightly cushioned to make your mattress more comfortable and breathable. Ultra-soft and comfortable for everyone, bamboo mattress covers are eco-friendly and easy to take care of (you don’t even need to have them dry cleaned!) We also offer bamboo pillow protectors, crib mattress protectors and duvet covers to help protect all of your favorite bedding while keeping you comfortable at night.

Is a bamboo mattress protector cooling?

Yes! Bamboo mattress protectors are deliciously cooling. Bamboo is an incredibly breathable fabric similar to cotton to prevent you from getting hot while you sleep.  Bamboo is a temperature-regulating fabric that can help keep you cool at night when it’s hot and warm in the winter when it’s cold. Bamboo is typically more cooling than cotton, letting your body heat escape through the breathable fabric weave.

Bamboo also wicks away moisture, so hot sleepers won’t wake up in the middle of the night sweating. Bamboo pajamas, loungewear and bedding can help you stay cool no matter the temperature to provide you with sustainable comfort all night long.

How do you clean a bamboo mattress protector?

Your bamboo mattress protector doesn’t have to be washed as often as your sheets because it doesn’t directly touch your body. It’s best to wash your mattress pad around every two months to prevent dust, oil and bacteria build-up. Washing every two months will allow your mattress protector to do its job and protect your mattress. Don’t worry about dry cleaning—ettitude’s bamboo mattress covers are machine-washable with cold water on the gentle cycle.

Can you put a bamboo mattress protector in the dryer?

Our bamboo mattress protectors can be put in the dryer on low heat. However, you can also dry your mattress pad on a line in the sun (it’s more eco-friendly that way too). When drying your bamboo mattress pad in the dryer, never use dryer balls as they can cause pilling.

While ettitude bamboo fabrics are machine-washable and can be put in the dryer, not all bamboo fabrics have such easy-breezy care. If you’re unsure how to care for your mattress cover, check the care instructions on the label for more information.

Robes

FAQs

Are bamboo robes comfortable?

Bamboo robes are luxuriously soft and lightweight. You can choose between a plush waffle bathrobe or a silky sateen robe depending on your preferences (or get both!) Waffle bathrobes are ideal for helping you dry off after a shower. Meanwhile, sateen robes are ideal for all-day wear to keep you cool and comfortable no matter what you’re doing at home.

Bamboo robes are softer than even the most luxurious cotton (even more than certified Egyptian cotton). With a 400-thread count, ettitude’s bamboo robes are softer, lightweight and moisture-wicking to keep you cool and sweat-free all day. Naturally breathable and temperature-regulating, bamboo robes are perfect for any season and make you feel like you’re at a spa. In addition, the soft yet durable material is designed to move with your body as you transition from bed to breakfast.

Bamboo robes are naturally hypoallergenic and ideal for those with skin sensitivities or allergies. Want to stay comfortable in bed and out? Check out our vegan silk loungewear and waffle bath collections.

How do you wash a bamboo bathrobe?

Washing a waffle robe or sateen robe is easy. Either robe can be washed in cold water on the gentle or delicate cycle. Tumble dry on low heat or machine dry, and you’re done. It’s that simple. When washing your bamboo bathrobe, avoid bleach and fabric softener to prevent pilling.

Are bamboo robes absorbent?

Bamboo robes are highly absorbent, making it easy for you to stay cool, comfy and dry. Bamboo is more absorbent than other fabrics, including cotton. Bamboo fabrics can absorb water more than three times their weight and wick moisture away from your body to dry you off quickly after showering.

ettitude’s bamboo standards

Sateen Bedding

FAQs

What is sateen bedding?

Sateen bedding uses a type of weave that creates a silky sheen that’s soft to the touch and gentle on skin and hair. Sateen bedding sets are typically thicker and more tightly woven than other materials which makes them feel high quality. In addition, sateen bedding offers a buttery softness, unlike any other material. As a result, sateen sheets and bedding look and feel luxurious to give you your best sleep every single night. Shop our bamboo lyocell bedding collection to find your next favorite bamboo sateen duvet cover or sateen sheets.

Sateen Vs. cotton bedding

Looking for breathable and soft bedding? Cotton sheets are known for their softness and durability. They’re breathable and absorbent, resistant to wear and smooth. However, they typically start coarse and require delicate care. And, even though cotton is breathable, it’s not as cooling as bamboo sateen bedding.

Sateen sheets and sateen duvet covers have a heavier weave than other types of fabrics but are much softer. Some people believe that sateen sheets are warmer than other types of bedding, but bamboo is a naturally breathable, cool material that prevents you from overheating at night. Bamboo sateen bedding sets are soft and silky with a delicate sheen that invites you into bed each night. Bamboo sateen sheets also get softer with every wash and are easy to care for.

Is sateen bedding hot?

Some forms of sateen bedding are hot. However, it all depends on the material. Sateen is a weave, not a material. For instance, you can have cotton or bamboo sateen. Both materials offer softness, but bamboo is cooler to the touch than cotton and offers better breathability. Bamboo sateen bedding is also moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating. So, if you sweat in your sleep, your bamboo sateen sheets will keep you dry and comfortable.

Because bamboo is 17% more temperature-regulating than other sheets, it makes a great material for bedding all year. In addition, it can keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, for body temperature control all year. Elevate your sleepwear as well with our sateen loungewear.

What is the best pajama material to sleep in?

When choosing from women's sleepwear, you have many options. The most popular women's loungewear materials include cotton, flannel, fleece, silk and bamboo. Sateen Vs. satin

Satin and sateen bed sheets share similar weaves and look. They’re both incredibly soft, but sateen fabric is better for improving sleep quality. Satin is made from synthetic fibers, making it more affordable. However, bamboo is better because it’s temperature-regulating, breathable and incredibly sustainable. Bamboo sateen sheets are also much easier to care for, as some satin sheets require dry cleaning. Sateen sheets are more durable and soft, with a beautiful sheen that makes any bed look hotel-worthy.

Will sateen sheets keep you cool?

Our sateen sheets are made from bamboo, which is naturally cooling and temperature-regulating. That means bamboo sheets will keep you cooler throughout the night and improve your quality of sleep. Bamboo also absorbs more water and sweat than cotton, making it an ideal choice for hot sleepers.

Sateen Vs. cotton

High-quality bamboo sheets are often compared to Egyptian cotton because they’re both soft and breathable. However, cotton can be harsh on the skin (and the planet). Whereas bamboo is soft and hypoallergenic, making it ideal for those with allergies or delicate skin. Sateen is also made from a different weave than standard cotton sheets. 400 thread-count bamboo sheets are just as soft and luxurious-feeling as 1000 thread-count cotton.

While cotton and bamboo both wick moisture away from the body, our sateen bed sheets are more breathable and durable. While pilling can be expected from both materials, bamboo sateen sheets get softer and lusher with each wash.

FAQs

What are the pros and cons of bamboo sheets?

Bamboo sheets are cool and breathable, allowing you to get the best and most restful sleep every night. Made from sustainably-sourced bamboo, our bamboo sheets are durable, moisture-wicking and unbelievably soft. Bamboo sheets are also naturally temperature regulating so you’ll sleep comfortably without getting too hot at night, no matter what season it is. While bamboo sheets require more specific care than standard sheets, they’re worth the additional maintenance to ensure your best sleep.

Bamboo sheets are soft on your skin and can help you regulate your body temperature to help you fall asleep (and stay asleep) with ease. Bamboo sheets are available in a variety of sizes to fit any bed, including crib fitted sheets to ensure your little one gets the restful sleep they need to grow. Our bedding is available in twin to california King sizing. We also offer:

What is the best thread count for bamboo sheets?

The best thread count for bamboo sheets is 300—the equivalent to 1,000 thread count in cotton sheets. Our bamboo bedding is even softer than 1,000 thread count cotton sheets, ensuring you’re comfortable between the sheets every night. Along with thread count, you should also consider the quality of the fiber and weave of the sheets to determine the most comfortable bed sheets for you. Both the sateen and twill weave in ettitude’s bamboo sheets feel buttery-smooth on your skin to give you a better, cozy sleep.

Are bamboo sheets too cold in the winter?

Not at all! Even though bamboo sheets have a cooling effect, they are also temperature regulating. They keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer to adjust to your ideal sleeping temperature (pretty clever, right?) Bamboo sheets keep the warmth produced by your body under the covers to prevent it from escaping and keep you comfortably warm even on the coldest of winter nights.

When summer comes around again, your bamboo sheets will do the opposite. They help you keep cool on warm nights while wicking sweat away from your skin so you’ll never wake up from the night sweats again.

Can bamboo sheets go in the dryer?

They sure can. Bamboo sheets should be machine washed with cold water on the delicate setting, then tumble dried on low heat. But, the most eco-friendly option is to line dry your bamboo sheets (if you can). Bamboo sheets can pill, just like any other fabric, so we recommend avoiding fabric softener and dryer balls. Your bamboo sheets can also be ironed on low heat for that crisp look.
